P-STAT Tabs

P-Stat Inc.

TABS is an optional module to the P-STAT statistical analysis programdesigned for market research and survey analysis. The TABS modulefeatures the SURVEY command and a Sample Balance program. The SURVEYcommand creates stub-and-banner displays from market studies, questionnaires and other research that can be analyzed in a tabulardisplay. What are stub-and-banner displays? The terms BANNER for columns and STUBfor rows are used because those are terms common in the market researchfield. However, the SURVEY output is a table, appropriate for analysisof any variable in terms of other variables. The stub (row) variable maybe displayed one per page or grouped together, and multiple responsevariables are possible. Up to four P-STAT system data files and manylabel files may be input to the SURVEY command. A variety of format andlayout options permit the survey to be tailored to each user'sspecifications.P-STAT's SURVEY command features:mode, and rangeproportions)The BALANCE command does sample balancing so that the marginals of thesample match those of a control group ("population"), whose marginals("controls") are supplied. Weights for each unique combination of thebalance variables ("cells") are computed. Output files of the actual andadjusted call frequencies, the observed and adjusted marginals, and theinput data plus the weights may be requested. BALANCE uses an iterativeapproximation to the least squared adjustment of W. E. Deming. The leastsquares adjustment attempts to enforce the marginal controls, whileminimizing the sum (over all cells) of the squared residuals (differencesbetween the observed and adjusted cell frequencies) per unit response.P-STAT accepts data in a variety of formats:external file, or an existing P-STAT system file. Data may be eitherfree-format or fixed-format. Hierarchical data is supported.files, SAS Data Step format, and Column Binary/Multipunch formats (IBM370, 1130, VAX 11780).program for entering data. Data Entry supports logical skip patterns, data validation and data editing capabilities. Other features include:logical skip patterns, master case definitions, sequence numbers, wildcard searches, generated values (date, time, random), requiredvariables, allowable values and range checks. Data Entry supports avariety of export file formats.
